The Mahabharat War is a central event in the Indian epic Mahabharat . It is a great battle fought between two groups of cousins: the Pandavas and the Kauravas , lasting 18 days on the battlefield of Kurukshetra . It was used by Dronacharya , the Kaurava army's commander, during the Kurukshetra War . The formation is described as a circular or spiral arrangement of warriors, designed to trap and isolate the enemy.
